Chronicles of Davis
Davis will make it home this Thanksgiving and will bring his buddy Huggins that can't make it back to Washington state to be with his family. Deb's family will also be here for the Thursday meal. Dan is trading vehicles. Replacing the little 2 door Grand Am with a 1/2 ton Silverado 4x4. Pictures to come soon.
11/27 Davis made it home fine but without his friend. His friend was on a training flight Wednesday and always feels under the weather afterward, so Davis proceeded home without him.
Davis now leaves for a 3 week duty in England and should be home again for Christmas.
12/7 Remember Pearl Harbor. Davis is finally flying this week and hoping to complete his qualification before returning to the states. He has been designated driver for his group. Driving on the left side of the road and getting a flat. If he brings home some pics, we will get them on here. Dan is working each Sat morn so he can have all of the last week of Dec off. His dad and mom already do!!
12/27 All the Christmas who ha is over and now we all get to enjoy some off time. Went shopping yesterday, checked out Charlie's possible house purchase here in town, and Davis had some high school buds over last night for entertainment on the big screen. He did bring home a friend with a name we cannot pronounce so he is just called Will. His family is from northern California and he could not make it home for the holiday. Davis also constructed a model of his plane in Legos for the daycare kids.
Shown above is our "big screen" video projection installed in the basement. It gets used by the boys whenever they are home and by Dad on the weekends.
2/27/2006 Got news from Davis that he will be heading back for Japan in the near future for another deployment. He might fly commercial this trip and hopes to at least land in Hawaii this time. He also received a bus driver license so that he can transport his crew on the base and on the tarmac to get to their plane. Looks like he will get his third stripe, Senior Airman, at the end of this year. He also has a "website" under Myspace. Click on the short cut on the right side to check him out.
3/8/2006 Heard from Davis that he is now in Japan, residing in a nice 2 room suite all by himself. Got to fly commercial this time. He contacted his Marine buddy Tim Arnold, a member of the Marine Corps Band, and will be able to meet up with him next week. Their bases are very close together. My worst fear is that his missions are directed toward N Korea which looks to be a very volatile situation right now. 3/15/2006 Davis checked in again the other day, at 5:30am our time. He was at evening time in Japan. Looks like he will achieve his minimum flying time to be qualified. As he reaches that, he will be sent home because he also needs to move to different housing. Mom and dad will slip down on a Friday, help him move on a Sat, and probably be back for dad to play on a Sat night.
5/15/2006 Davis called to wish his mother Happy Mother's Day, but no one was home at the time. He is safely in England on the base. On Friday his brother called him to wish him a happy birthday and relayed that he would be staying on bases this time and should be home before the 4th of July. His crew has been noticed by command for having highly successful missions and for that reason are being given more/longer assignments.
6/13/2006 Davis talked to his mother during the day yesterday to tell her he is now on the Mediterranian island of Crete catching some rays on a white sand beach. Looks like the base is on the western end. He says it is really beautiful there. My concern is that this is the nearest he has been to the Middle East area. I am also envious of his current situation with respect to where he is at from a tourist standpoint. Greece is probably the #1 European country I would choose to visit. My favorite sites would be the ancient ruins.
The above are a couple beaches I believe are near where he is at.
7/7/2006 Heard from Davis 2 days ago with the news he is back at Offutt. After Crete he returned to England for the balance of his assignment. His counterpart on another crew was granted an emergency leave to return home, so Davis took over his spot also and was required to go on more missions. Davis also said his flight from Crete to England was bad- on a cargo plane- so to even things out, he had an expensive dinner that night on the military. He will be in Poky this Sunday for a week off.
10/27/2006 Things have been a little slower over the past few weeks. with the runway being replaced at Offutt, his training flights have been staged at Lincoln, NE. The last couple calls from him included a notice that he will be going overseas again but could not say where or when. On 10/22 he did call from a foreign land and could say the weather was great and he had been to this place before but that is all he would share. This deployment looks to be 8 weeks and may include 3 different bases. Hopefully he is home before Christmas and takes some time off over the holiday. He is also anticipating an advancement in rank by the end of the year from Airman First Class to Senior Airman.
11/15/2006 Deb has heard from Davis during day and he stated that he is in Crete again as we suspected when he said the weather was good. It is very likely that he will be home the first part of December. He should be due for some extended time off.
12/1/2006 Got an email from him as follows:
Got some more time on a computer and it's been a pretty slow day so I thought I'd check in again. Finally got a break for a few days. Looks like I came out at a great time of the year out here. It's the holiday season so people out here get a lot more special events done for them than they would any other time of the year. A few nights ago John Popper (the harmonica player for Blues Traveller), Jaime O'Neil (a country singer), and the New England Patriots cheerleaders were here to do a show. Last night "Tops in Blue", an Air Force showband did a show, and in a few days the Harlem Globetrotters will be here. Another fun thing I've been doing out here is playing bingo. Same as with the family but with different patterns for every round instead of just rows. They give away some pretty decent prizes but I haven't won yet. It's a lot more fun playing with my friends and having a few beers. And I do mean a few. We can only have 3 a day out here. They just started getting movies for the theater here that came out last summer, so I've been seeing Pirates of the Carribean 2 and Talledega nights again.

I have looked on the net and concluded he is probably in Qatar. The airbase there is fairly new (less than 6 years old) and from the satellite view has been home to planes similar to his. From that view, I counted eight. I also check schedules of the entertainers which also mention Qatar as recent stops.
