The Week That Was

The last week of June was crammed with so much stuff. First the trip to DC, leaving Sun afternoon and returning Thursday afternoon. We saw all the the monuments and museums possible. Security was always fun and existed EVERYWHERE. The "seen it" list included the Capital (twice), The White House (from a distance), Senate (in session discussing immigration bill) Washington, Lincoln, Vietnam, Korea, WW II, FDR, Jefferson, Holecaust Memorials, Arlington National Cemetary, Peterson House (where Lincoln died, across from Ford Theatre), Smithsonions -Air & Space and Natural History, National Archives and Deb's cousin Anne's house in Silver Springs-less security there. Anne and her family were excellent hosts and she helped us navigate the metro subway.
Arriving home, things did not slowdown much. Thursday night was unpacking. Friday was car shopping in Spencer (more on that later) and checking my desk at work. Friday evening was a trip to Fort Dodge for a concert by 38 Special and The Guess Who. 38 got held up in Georgia so local group, Saucy Jack subbed. We picked up a Poky person that worked at Fort Dodge Ford on the way to the concert. This person mentioned that they had a used Corvette on the showroom floor and heard I was looking for one. I had test drove a 92 but the paint job and the driving comfort was unacceptable for the money asked. This Vette in Ft Dodge was alot better quality as I could find little wrong with the paint and the interior was in above average condition AND comfortable. We told the sales guy we would come back Sat morning for a test drive. Long story short we are now owners of a classic car, a white 1976 Corvette coupe.
Saturday night was spent at the Algona races and a stop at the Ayrshire 125th celebration to see a local band. Sunday was finally a lounge around day. Grass is not growing so no need to mow.
Davis is in Europe somewhere at this time and Dan is putting in some overtime at work and liking the money.
Maybe we will see you in a parade this summer. Look for the white Vette and the SMILING passangers!!
