More bits
School is back in session and the children are back to Deb's Daycare. Thoughts are turning to preparations for winter. Things such as finding a winter home for the Vette, changing over the Case from mower to snowblower and lighting up the furnace for the first time. The field behind the house is harvested- beans- and the leaves are falling. The attached picture is a Christmas present from a friend of Deb's that was delivered a few weeks ago.
Racing is done but the band is playing on with a full schedule until Thanksgiving. New Years Eve will be at the local casino which includes overnight rooms.
We did get to spend a weekend with Davis in Omaha/Papillion and visited the Durham Western Heritage Museum. It is an old Union Pacific railroad station that is built in the art-deco style and is wonderfully restored with nice exhibits on the lower floors. You also get to walk through actual passanger cars and a caboose.
The band celebrated a 45th anniversary with a benefit for numerous charities including one for veterans. Special presentations were made to some purple heart winners. They were all unaware that they were going to be recognized as arrangements to get them there were made through their wives.
One Sunday afternoon was spent in Fort Dodge at the Webster County Fairgrounds participating in the annual Cruise to the Woods car show. Over 800 vehicles were there which was down from the usual attendance because of the overcast conditions. But rain only came once and was very light.
